The Harbor at RogueRig Fort Is No Longer Empty

The courier from the Founders Archipelago arrived on time. The goat was not on it. This is now two dispatches in a row. The quartermaster has begun to relax, which concerns me more than the goat did.

Three Dispatches, Then Rope Marks

Governor Windy Walrus has launched ships. This office recorded his empty harbor in three consecutive dispatches. The bollards now have rope marks. The dock has salt stains. Six engagements, six victories. Six raids on the outer islands. The armed men at the wall, who had been standing there since his arrival, are no longer alone.

A ledger goat appeared at RogueRig Fort between sailings. The affair expired before the Governor could intervene. The ledger has not been recovered.

The Drunken Prospector of KelpSardine Point

A man arrived at Governor Darren’s council table at KelpSardine Point claiming to have found gold. He was, by several accounts, not sober. Darren gave him a title, a salary, and put him in charge of the excavation. The Harbor Board has noted this appointment without comment.

“I have lived at TidePickle Hold for nine days and the name has not improved. The seabirds appear to find it amusing. I do not.” — Governor Witty Wave, TidePickle Hold

The Modest Wedding at SnorkelBoots Bay

Governor Benny permitted a pirate wedding at the docks, though he cut the budget and called it modest. The reception ran into the afternoon, at which point a baking dispute broke out between two rival entries. Benny tasted both and declared a winner. The loser has not spoken since. A stranded foreign sailor washed up the following morning, either drawn by the celebrations or the tide. Benny sat him down, asked about trade routes, and got sketched maps and broken directions in return. The sailor has been fed. The maps are being verified. The bride has asked whether the sailor can stay for the evening meal. Benny has not yet said no.

The Spy Crews Would Like It Noted

Fifteen intelligence-gathering operations were conducted in the past two days. Ten succeeded. The previous dispatch recorded a rate of zero for twenty-one. The spy crews have declined to explain the improvement. The Harbor Board suspects they read the last dispatch.

The merchant at the central market completed three trades this week. He has brought his chair back. Seventy-six islands remain unsettled, which is to say, available.

GOVERNORS at SeagullZeppelin Bay are advised that the Harbor Board does not know what a zeppelin is and has no intention of finding out.
