Medium Island Was Freed Twice This Week, and Both Times It Paid in a Blackened Idol
The courier brought seawet ledgers and one small crate marked, in careful hand, “Do not open in the records room.”
The Week’s Question: How Many Seals Can One Harbor File
In April, the Black Tide held six harbours and none lasted a full day. This week it has returned to the books in a quieter manner, by leaving governors the same piece of cargo twice, and insisting we pretend that is normal. The quartermaster has declined to explain.
Medium Island, Serially Freed
On the fifteenth, Flowkap sailed from 0 - Wehlenium to a Black Tide holding listed only as Medium Island, won cleanly across repeated engagements, and left the shore with plunder and a single blackened idol. The island’s church and harbour were reduced in the process, which is the usual cost of certainty. The idol is now awaiting an entry number.
On the sixteenth, Aye-for-an-Aye repeated the exercise from Yippee Ki Aye, again against Medium Island, again with victory, again with a blackened idol taken from the ruins. Housing, storehouse, and watch tower were all cut down to size, as if the Tide prefers tidy accounts. It has not commented.
The quartermaster has now opened a separate page titled “Idols, Blackened” and under it written the same line twice. This wants attention before long.
Aye-for-an-Aye Learns the Value of Other People’s Lumber
The same governor climbed to eighth on the realm board after claiming CrabPickle Watch and then turning outward for coin and supplies. Ruins at Medium Island yielded 9,047 coins, then Small Island yielded 8,057 more, and several named holdings, including LanternBanana Haven and LsupplyGoblet Bastion, were recorded as giving up gold, stone, and lumber in quantities that required fresh ink. Jenkins attempted to carry the ink himself. I have nothing further to add.
Smaller Flags, Still Upright
kelti held 02-001 Luminara under pressure, according to the day’s brief notice, and has remained active enough that no one is willing to call it luck. roxx raised WobbleCutlass Hold to Stronghold status and has done so without asking me to admire it. I have noted the restraint.
House Of Stark, newly sworn to Dominion, has already ruled on The Governor’s Parrot at RattleWhale Landing, declaring it official mascot and issuing it a tiny crown. Flowkap, not to be outdone by birds, has also issued recognition papers for a cat at 0 - Augusta Capitalum, complete with carved seal and schedule posting. The seal is not to be used on the idol ledger.
The Long Shoreline
Windy Walrus remains the realm’s heaviest presence, and in the midst of all this found time to rename 0K14 More Stone with a slightly more legible hand, and to raise 0K16 Frightened Walrus to Stronghold. Pytale stays near the top of the board with fewer loud movements, which is often how it is done. Peppy Bosun’s council file at RustyBanana Port continues to arrive in stacks.
A placard at the harbor gate repeats a single line this week: “They came in the night and were gone before the gulls woke.” The Black Tide is still listed as holding three islands somewhere in Founders World, which suggests the gulls will not be sleeping in. The arrangements have been made.
