Renown, a Defense page for every island, and chat you can reply to
This update lets you see an attack coming and know what will happen when it lands. It also gives every Governor a name worth earning, and lets you reply to a message and read your chat right back to the start.
You can also now see the whole Founders world on one live map, coloured by alliance territory: inselnova.com/worlds/founders/map
Your defences
When you attack, the game tells you the odds, the losses and the haul. When you’re attacked, it has told you little more than that a fleet is coming. Now every island has a Defense page under Forces › Army, showing each fleet on its way, what your patrol and garrison will do to it, and what you can still do before it lands. Your advisor raises the alarm with a countdown while it sails.
Renown
A Governor who joins today shouldn’t feel months behind before they count. The Realm roll ranks everything ever built, so its top rarely moves. Renown ranks what Governors have done lately, so the board can move and everyone has a place in it. It sits beside Realm for now and becomes the main leaderboard once the rest of the changes are in. Realm stays, so a score you’ve spent months building is still yours to show off. See the Rankings and Honour pages.

The Black Tide can wait
Every new Governor has a Black Tide island near their first shore. Until now, nothing stopped you attacking it on your first evening, and the Tide hit back. Now, while your Sanctuary holds, the black sails are something to watch, not something to fight.
- Tap one while under Sanctuary and the Matron tells you what those sails keep, and how long her seal holds
- You can still send spies to keep an eye on it
- The Black Rot can’t reach you in your first week
A patrol can now keep the Black Rot away
A Tide fleet that beats your garrison now always brings the Black Rot. One you fight off still brings it one time in five. A patrol at half its grit or more keeps it away, and so does Rotsalt. Every Tide battle report says whether the Rot followed, and why.
Provoking the Tide now earns something too: a new achievement track, The Tide’s Grudge, runs from Marked to Unforgiven. The first Governor in a world to draw its full grudge gets a headline at the top of World News.
Already live since the last update
- The game no longer drops out for half a minute every hour, and the rankings move again
- A raid while none of your troops were home no longer counts as a battle you lost
- The sea toll on empty islands is gone again: a won raid with no defenders home costs no ships on the way back, on a Governor’s island or a wild one
- A Black Tide warband called by a church now stays as strong as that church
- When the Tide takes an abandoned island near you, it sends a raider, so no storm falls on you for someone else’s absence
- A storm notice now says what drew the warband
New
- A Defense page for every island, under Forces › Army
- The Renown roll on the Governors tab
- Your realm’s identity compass and title, on your profile and in the Census
- Your standing with the Watch on the Honour tab
- Before you strike a Black Tide island, the Matron says how far its grudge will rise
- New Governors meet Quill first, then take the short tutorial or skip it
- An account that plays like a script gets a fair-play notice in its Desk
- The Tide’s Grudge achievement track, from Marked to Unforgiven
Improved
- Battle and raid reports show the haul as a table with its total, and say if your holds were full
- A raid report warns when your storehouse is full and the haul will spoil
- A workshop order short of stores steps aside so the next one can start
- The Bench Stands Cold tells you what your stalled workshop is missing
- Watch Tower cards open the island’s Defense page
- The watch bells ring once for each wave of fleets, not each fleet
- Spy reports say how many ships went, came home, and to send next time
- Each spy report has its own row on the Desk
- Battle reports say how the forces met before the verdict
- The Patrol tab says how many warships can sail
- Council rulings no longer list Rule of Law, Trade Outlook and Way of Life
- The handbook’s Black Tide and First Orders pages are short overviews, with tabs
- Many smaller improvements to chat, the Census, reports and the handbook
Fixed
- The Black Tide hits back again after your first attack on it
- Soldiers in training no longer eat your food until they finish
- Forces, Realm and Build all count the same number of ships
- Merchant ships out on a trade show as away
- Fleet sighted no longer hides your news once you’ve looked at the attack
- A shallow spy report no longer calls a guarded island undefended
- Striking the Black Tide no longer ends your Sanctuary
- A starved black hole seals on time
- Market sale letters are in your language
- Lots of smaller fixes to chat, portraits and the world feed
